Ep 2069: gROw into God’s Plan

Meet Ro Wiggins, a basketball coach and mentor whose life journey has taken him from Louisiana to Idaho, combining his love for sports with a passion for leading youth. You'll hear all about how God led Ro on this journey, not without some bumps and hiccups along the way. His transparency throughout the interview highlights Ro’s authenticity.

Ro now runs The gROw Program, a mentorship and coaching program for kids and teens across various backgrounds, working especially with youth living on Native American reservations. He talks about his experience pouring into program attendees, asking God to use him and his natural people skills. You’ll also get a look at Ro’s journey to marriage, balancing his role as a father of six. His faith-driven approach reminds us of the importance of treating our work as a mission field, embodying patience, integrity, and purpose as he positively impacts the lives of young athletes.

Ep 2068: Kingdom Legacies that Last

In this episode, we talk with Andy Galpin, a mission-driven entrepreneur focused on preserving Kingdom culture in businesses. Jim opens with a story of a business owner who prioritized profit over culture when selling his company—leading to a quick erosion of his values-driven workplace. While the interview focuses on Andy’s current work, you’ll also get a quick look at Andy’s background and what steered him toward his present business ventures.

Through his company, Tree and Leaf Partners, Andy now looks for thriving businesses to acquire, ensuring their cultures endure even when owners step out of the picture. Inspired by his experiences at IBM, Andy believes that leaders set the cultural tone, making it critical to have mission-aligned leadership at the top. He follows the “Redemptive Business Framework,” emphasizing a model beyond profit, where businesses actively contribute to the common good and Kingdom advancement.

Andy dreams of an ecosystem where Kingdom-led companies mentor young Christians, shaping a new generation of values-based leaders. His appeal is clear: business owners, don’t let the highest bid compromise your mission—let’s build legacies that last!

Ep 2067: Empowering Military Families

Brett and Mary Elaine Baker are the proud founders of VAUSA, a company dedicated to helping military spouses (and likeminded talent) find flexible work. The Bakers share their personal stories, including how their faith has helped them navigate the challenges of military life, marriage, family, and business. If you are a current or former military member, you’ll likely understand the struggles Brett faced while deployed and reintegrating back into family life. Military spouses can relate to Mary Elaine, an elementary school teacher who was trying to “hold down the fort” and ended up finding her calling as a virtual assistant.

Instead of letting hardship drive them apart, they used their experiences to create a business that empowers military families, offering not only jobs but also community and spiritual support. More than a business, both Brett and Mary Elaine confirm that VAUSA is their ministry – what God was preparing for them all along. If you’re looking for an inspiring story of faith, resilience, and purpose-driven business, this episode will hit home! Visit HireVAUSA.com for more information on working with the Bakers as a virtual assistant (VA) or VA client.

Just like VAUSA prioritizes values alignment for its virtual assistants and clients, iWork4Him sponsors focus on advancing the Kingdom. Here’s some of our top supporters:

Ep 2066: A God-Honoring Decision Matrix

The iWork4Him Podcast welcomes back the incredible entrepreneur Pete Ochs who uses this latest show to share his Christ-centered decision matrix. If you didn’t catch his first episode with iWork4Him, you’ll definitely want to go back and hear about all the cool business innovating Pete’s done throughout the years. Since that show, Pete has transitioned into a new role with Enterprise Stewardship, an organization that helps businesses create more Kingdom-driven impact. His decision matrix is a key tool used to guide these businesses and even in personal decisions.

The matrix is based on four key questions: Does it honor God? Does it serve people? Can it be done with excellence? And are we being good stewards? The best part is that Pete gives real-life examples for these questions, which are not only informative but fascinating to hear!

Although 72, it’s clear that Pete doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. His new role as mentor is a huge motivation in his “refirement” plan. His life verse was once Psalm 78:72, which focuses on leading, but he’s recently transitioned to Psalm 71:18, a verse about guiding the coming generations. No matter what stage you’re at in life, we guarantee that Pete Ochs will challenge and inspire you!

Ep 2065: On the Road to Kingdom Advancement

It’s amazing how God can use us when we simply open ourselves to Him. John Cummings, Founder and CEO of ASAP Express, gives testimony to this fact in the latest episode of iWork4Him. Maybe John’s journey started out a little “rocky” with spotty church attendance and a lukewarm faith, but God faithfully led him down a path to deepen his faith after attending a Man Up men's retreat, where he learned about the impact of human trafficking. This experience transformed his outlook on life and business.

John explains how he incorporated Christian values into ASAP’s core mission, which included donating to anti-trafficking organizations and openly sharing his faith at work. Despite concerns about losing employees or clients, his business grew, attracting like-minded customers and employees.

John points out that among Muslim Americans, money is reinvested an average of 14 times before leaving the Muslim community. In Jewish communities, 7-8 times, and for Christians only 1.5 times. This led to his involvement in the Christian Network Movement, which encourages Christian-led businesses to support one another in advancing the Kingdom. If you’re interested in getting involved with this network, reach out to John at lions.den@asapexpressinc.com. Ep 2064: Liberating Leaders

In this episode of iWork4Him, Jim and Martha Brangenberg speak with Dr. Jessica Rimmer, CEO of Solomon Strategic Advisors, about leadership and faith in the workplace. You’ll hear her personal journey of embracing her God-given leadership strengths, reflecting on how she once struggled with feeling like “a lot.” Through a liberating mentorship with her first boss and learning to see value in her gifts, she found confidence and purpose.

Like many of us, Jessica previously felt the need to use her talents in “varsity Christianity” - working in full-time, vocational ministry. However, she’s since learned that God made her exactly how she is in order to be a great leader. The GiANT Worldwide platform helps her help other leaders become healthy and effective, with a focus on “liberated leaders.” Jessica also discusses the importance of self-leadership, asking ourselves the challenging question, “What’s it like on the other side of me?”

As a Polished Network chapter leader, the conversation also touches on her role there and with the Boldly Conference, which empower women to live out their faith in their work. Although Boldly 2024 is THIS WEEK (Oct 18th), there’s still time to register! Use IWORK4HIM20 for your discount. And men, this episode is a powerful discussion on leadership for you, too. Don’t miss it!

As always, we give a special shoutout to the amazing organizations that sponsor iWork4Him. Did you know that our partner SaferNet produces its own podcast highlighting the dangers of cybercrime? Ep 2063: Faith in Flight at DFW

Even if we don’t think about it, when we go to the airport, we surrender control. And that can be the perfect context for having an encounter with Jesus. In this episode of iWork4Him, hosts Jim and Martha Brangenberg welcome Greg McBrayer, Chief Flight Dispatcher and Corporate Chaplain at American Airlines. With over 46 years at American Airlines, Greg reflects on the huge impact 9/11 had on his life, when amidst the chaos he told God “we need You here” and God answered “that’s why I placed you here.” And soon after Greg became a chaplain.

There's often an overwhelming need for spiritual care in the aviation industry, especially during crises, and Greg’s presence has ministered to both employees and travelers at Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW). Last year alone, the 30 chaplains serving at DFW completed nearly 40,000 touchpoints, offering comfort and guidance to those in need.

Greg shares insights on integrating faith at work and building relationships with corporate leadership to foster a culture of care. He also discusses the growing need for chaplains in workplaces today, encouraging organizations to consider the benefits of spiritual care for employees. Even if you’re not a chaplain, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are a fantastic tool to show care for coworkers and customers. Tune in to hear how God is working through Greg to bring hope and support to many in the airline industry.

Ep 2062: A Conversation on Biblical Scaling

You’re in for a treat, hearing from Todd Hopkins, founder of Office Pride Commercial Cleaning and long-time friend of iWork4Him. Todd shares his inspiring journey of starting his business from humble beginnings and growing it into a national franchise while keeping the mission to honor God at the center. He dives into the challenges of scaling a business and why he chose franchising as a path to success, all while maintaining a focus on Kingdom impact.

Since Todd has a passion for teaching and pouring into others, he helped CBMC develop the Young Professionals program. In this show, he talks about his new venture starting in January 2025, the Strategic Thinking Network, a quarterly workshop series aimed at helping business owners scale both their business and spiritual influence. Get more information and sign up for what’s sure to be an incredible program at StrategicThinkingNetwork.com. Take advantage of an early bird registration discount of $500 by signing up before October 15th!

You’ll also be able to sneak a peek into one of Todd’s biblical business tools – a “considerations filter,” which helps him stay focused on God's purpose rather than ideas that might just be distractions. Whether you’re an aspiring entrepreneur or looking for new ways to scale, Todd’s story offers valuable insights for growing with purpose. Want to hear more from Todd? Ep 2061: Make Your Marriage and Business Work

Let’s discuss the challenges of balancing marriage and business with returning guests Robert and Kay Lee Fukui, authors of the book Tandem: The Married Entrepreneur’s Guide for Greater Work-Life Balance. They explore how entrepreneurs and pastors often struggle with balancing work and family, leading to marital neglect.

Robert and Kay Lee, drawing from their own experiences growing up in pastor and business owner families, share practical advice on maintaining a strong marriage while managing a business. Their focus is on building work-life balance through intentional practices like prayer, planning, and lots of communication. While perfect balance may not exist, properly prioritizing both work and family can prevent marital breakdowns.

Ep 2060: Boldly Embrace Workplace Unity

Catherine Gates, Executive Director of the Polished Network, joins us once again – this time to discuss the upcoming Boldly Conference, taking place October 18th in Carrollton, Texas. Catherine shares the inspiration behind the for women, by women conference, focusing this year on combating division and calling for BOLDLY UNIFIED Christian working women.

Women attending will experience powerful speakers like Kat Armstrong, Jenni Catron, and Sharon Hodde Miller, offering practical, biblically based insights to apply at work. Expect to walk away with new connections, fresh confidence, and actionable strategies to honor God in your career! Martha has attended 3 out of the 4 annual Boldly Conferences and shares an example of experiencing a very impactful spiritual “attunement” at the Attune to Grow table last year.

Catherine also shares her own journey from collaboration to leadership at Polished, showing how God’s hand guides every step. Don't miss this opportunity to grow your career and faith at the Boldly Conference! Find out more at BoldlyConference.com and use code IWORK4HIM20 for a special discount.
