Contentment
From the time I was little, I have been driven by a passion for cars. As little Jim, I was obsessed with Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars. I loved racing and I loved racetracks. I loved everything car. When Martha and I got married, we had a car dealership that allowed me to drive a different car every week for 15 years.
During that time the Lord introduced me to Philippians 4:11-13 where Paul tells the church in Philippi that he learned to be content in whatever the circumstance he found himself.
I was not content, and this contentment problem was driving a debt problem. Both of these problems had the potential to be a marriage problem but the Lord rescued us.
In 1999, we took the Biblical Financial course from Crown Financial Ministries
www.crown.org.
We learned so many principles that changed our lives during that class.
A key life concept came from Phil. 4:11-13 -
contentment is a discipline to achieve through practice and the power of the Holy Spirit.
My contentment story is not over, but since 2007 we have driven 200,000 miles on the same minivan. Yes, our God is a God of miracles and is changing my heart daily.
In this season of marketing discontentment, seek the only one who can bring true contentment. Jesus. He will impact your life and of course your workplace.
Merry Christmas from Martha and I and the rest of the iWork4Him team.
