Intentionality With Our Neighbors

iWork4Him is focused on our workplace mission field, and rightfully so – since it is iWork4Him.  But there is another HUGE mission field:

Our Neighborhood

I was once asked by a pastor to name all the people that lived across the street from me, next to me and behind me.  At the time, I couldn’t do it, but now I can.  I had never realized how important it was to love on my neighbors as an opportunity to show the Love of Christ.  I know Jesus said to love my neighbor but did He live in my neighborhood?

How many of us have actually taken those verses literally?

About 10 years ago Martha and I did.  We decided that if we wanted to live in a loving neighborhood, we needed to be loving. You know what?

Our Neighborhood Changed

iWork4Him impacts all that we do because it is really learning to live out our faith in all that we do. We focus on our workplace because it seems to be the most natural place for us to check our faith at the door.  I am challenging you to realize that the people in your neighborhood need to meet Jesus too. You may be their only chance.

Do you know your neighbors?

Their kids names?

Their dog’s name?

If not, invite some neighbors over for a BBQ before summer is over.   You will experience amazing things when you do. God works when we are obedient and Jesus said to love our neighbors as ourselves.   Besides, pot lucking is the greatest art of an American Neighborhood!

Matthew 22:39 New Living Translation (NLT)

‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
