Our Nation's Birthday - And Its Significance

This week every we celebrated the 242nd birthday of our country.  242 years ago a mainly entrepreneurial Christ Following group of men and their families pledged everything for the cause of freedom worldwide and the founding of this great country.  We spend very little time these days focused on the spiritual founding of our country, in fact there are those that don’t want to recognize it.  The majority of the founders wanted to experience freedom of religion.  They were looking to be free of religious and political tyranny. When they signed the Declaration of Independence they put their lives and fortunes on the line, along with the safety of their families.

Why?

So 242 years later, we could celebrate freedom of religion and exercise free expression.  The signers of the Declaration lived out iWork4Him because they knew what it was to go all in for their faith.  In the early decades of our country, prayer was the center of every major action.  Almost 350 million people live in freedom in the United States and billions around the world want to reproduce what works in our country.  I know our country isn’t perfect, but it is a lot easier to live out iWork4Him in the US of A than it is in any country around the world.

I am thankful to the signers for their foresight and their reliance on God to form our great Country.

May God Bless the USA and Happy Birthday America!

Psalm 20:7 New Living Translation (NLT)

7 Some nations boast of their chariots and horses,
but we boast in the name of the Lord our God.
