Ministry Is Messy

Ministry is messy because people are messy. People are messy because the sin in our lives is messy.

But you may say “But Jim I am not in Ministry!” and I will say – ALL who are followers of Jesus are called to disciple.  So, you ARE in ministry.  Where is the good news in the “Ministry is Messy” message?

The great news is that when you get messy ministering to others, you will receive peace and contentment that is found nowhere else on this planet.

What does that ministry look like?  It might be collecting diapers for a co-workers new baby, listening to a friend whose marriage is struggling, cutting down a tree that fell during a storm, taking that phone call when they’ve had “one too many” and giving a ride, or using your resources for someone that needs them more.

Take a look around you and ask God to help you see the ministry needs in your workplace.  Walk in the power of the Holy Spirit! Spend time with your Heavenly Father. When you do, the messiness of ministry will feel like you are basking in the rays of the Son.

PLAN ON IT.

When you follow Jesus, your life won’t look like others, it won’t likely be comfortable or convenient. It will be messy but it will make you feel alive like you have never felt before. Shake off the protection of comfort and conformity and embrace the call on your life. We are reminded that Romans 12:2 says:

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Ministry is Messy but it is worth it.
