You Complete Me
I’m thinking about relationships and am reminded of one of a great scene in the classic movie “Back to the Future”. Michael J Fox is coaching his future father on how to sweet talk his future mother in order to woo her to go to the dance. He used the line – “You are my density, I mean destiny” and the rest is history. Pickup lines like this one all lead somewhere, but where? Are they really true? Should be believe them? What does this have to do with iWork4Him?
Our relationships hugely impact our ability to work productively and effectively. If our marriages and other family relationships are out of balance, then the rest of your life reaps the consequences.
Lines like “You are my Destiny” or “You complete me” are a lie. No man or woman can bring you eternal life or eternal happiness and certainly they won’t complete you. You and I are a mess, some younger folks would say a “hot” mess. The only one who can be our destiny or who can truly complete us is Jesus.
People all around us are looking for answers the world struggles to provide. Because the world says “All you need is love” da da da da…people search for that in all the “wrong places”. But the answer is simple. We all need Jesus. He died for you and me and for our co-workers and employees. He loves us unconditionally and He is capable of being our destiny and He can complete us. Do you believe that? Do you believe Romans 12:2 when it says “don’t copy the behaviors and customs of this world, but let God transform you by changing the way you think….”?
We have the answer. The real answer to the greatest question ever asked. This question really vets out the anguish of the world in a single phrase “What is the meaning of Life?” The answer is Jesus. He died and rose from the dead to give us that answer, plain and simple. Do you believe it?
No man or woman will ever bring you complete peace and tranquility. No relationship with a human is truly like the fairy tales or movies. On our own it’s not possible but with Jesus “All things are possible”. He completes the relationship and helps us to love each other like Christ loves the church. Please bring the truth of this message to your workplace today. Your friends at work need to hear it. Your co-workers and employees need to hear it. I need to be reminded about it all the time and maybe you do too.
Christ completes me!
And if you need a little reminder now and again, I encourage you to sign up for the iWork4Him Nation! Come and join our community of Christ-followers who are dedicated to living out the love of Christ with intentionality at work.
