Never Eat Lunch Alone

It is always fun to talk about food. I don’t know anyone that doesn’t like to eat. I know a lot of people who complain about their eating habits, but not one that says that they are going to give up eating. We need to eat.

However, many of us eat alone during one of the most opportune times of the day.

We all need to eat in order to keep our energy up during the day. Are you one of the few million who never leave their desk and just keep working? Lunch is one of those things that are a necessity for our well being so why not share it with someone.

A WISE MAN NAMED LARS

I had a mentor named Lars in my life for a short period of time. He told me, “Jim, you gotta each lunch. Just don’t do it alone. Never eat lunch alone.” Lars was in sales so he used his lunches for networking and sales. Sales become relationship building when you do it over a meal.

GET TO KNOW YOUR CO-WORKERS OR EMPLOYEES

What if you aren’t a sales person? Then take a break and eat lunch with your co-workers and employees. Most offices have a place where people can eat together, maybe even a picnic table outside. Lunch with your co-workers and employees gives you a chance to be real with them and to break the monotony of work.

Everyone needs to take a break during the day. We are not machines, we do need to get refreshed and recharged, and when we develop relationships with those we work around, we can do both over our lunch breaks.

Don't waste your life and don't waste your lunchtime.

You have been given a gift to develop relationships with the people around you. Don’t miss that opportunity. Each person you work with is a beautiful creation. You will be blessed if you take time to know them.

Eat lunch, but don’t eat alone. Thanks Lars.
