Goals and Groundhogs

I find it hard to believe that 1/12th of the year is already gone.  I know that most of you will be reading this on Groundhog Day, which, if you ever saw the movie with Bill Murray, might truly depict how you spent your January. I digress – get to the point Jim, these people are busy!

We set goals in late December and early January. I encouraged you to set retrospective resolutions.  “Begin with the end in mind”, as Stephen Covey says.  Did you take that challenge seriously from me back in January?

What is it you accomplished in 2016?  How did you do it?  Certainly not by doing the same things all over again.  You did it by breaking the cycle of monotony and you started thinking outside of the box.  You started dreaming of peace in your office, evenings spent at home relaxing and enjoying your family.

So what did your January look like?  Was it much of the same?  Did it look just like a continuation of 2015 or did you truly branch out and seek new things for this year? It’s not too late to get a fresh start for 2016.

Seek genuine healthy change. Engage your co-workers and employees in beneficial conversation that seeks real solutions.  Serve your customers with delight and with excellence. Whatever it is that would be different, productive and fun, desire that for your workplace. Work is a gift!

Whether the groundhog saw his shadow or not today, we need to get our heads out of our caves and see the incredible opportunities ahead of us and embrace them with a smile on our faces.  2016 will be a year you remember, but for what?

Make it the best year ever. You still have 11/12ths of it left.

Sometimes we need some help seeking that change in our workplace. Email me at Jim@iWork4Him.com if you’d like to bounce ideas off of me and get some advice.
