Your Skills are Desperately Needed

I think all of us suffer from job dissatisfaction one day or another.  Working is, well, work.  It can’t be fun all the time…or can it?  That is not the topic for today, but we may deal with that in the future.  Today, I really want to encourage you.

What if I told you that there were hundreds of millions of people around the globe that desperately want to know what you know?  What if I told you that your skill set is in such high demand, people would travel to learn from you?  What if I told you that every day, around the world and in the United States of America, people want to learn what you know so they can support their families?

PARADIGM SHIFT

This is a game changer.  If we allow our paradigm to shift and recognize the privilege we have, we can be a blessing to others.

As a business coach specializing in working with small business owners, I can tell you that the NUMBER ONE most impactful event in any small business owner’s life is to go spend a week in the 3rd world/developing nations/ 2/3rds world.

Living in these fantastic United States of America, we struggle with understanding real need. Even the poorest of our poor are wealthier than 50% of the rest of the world.  By spending time in a developing nation, by the way I am not talking in a resort area, you will understand and appreciate how blessed you are and how much you have to give.

TEACHING IN PARAGUAY

This week on iWork4Him, I interviewed Jeff Ruby from Red Rock Leadership.  He recently got back from a trip to City of the East, Paraguay.  For the past 5 years, Jeff has invested in this city and its leaders by doing what he does each and every day – teaching about leadership, sales and customer service.

On his last trip, he spoke to students at a university and a local high school on leadership.  His students were spellbound. They soaked up the information and were so grateful for him investing his talents in them. Jeff would be mad that I highlighted this, but the point isn’t about Jeff, it’s about what we have been entrusted with.

WHAT ARE YOUR GIFTS?
WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THEM?

Each of us has a unique set of gifts, talents and abilities.  Are you willing to share those with others?  Have you ever thought that your skills as a mechanic, administrative assistant, math teacher, baker, could be shared with others so they are able to better support themselves?

Please take a moment to thank God for that blessing and then ask how you can be used to help others!
